I’ve just had a brick thrown through my window.
Just finished cleaning up the kitchen and best I can. Glass everywhere. The brick hit my Google Home Hub and damaged the screen. I called 999 within seconds. But they can do nothing. Whoever did it was gone before I got to the door. Wife and myself stoic, but my son is very upset
This also happened around the corner from me a few months ago.

On @Channel4News in an interview with @GaryGibbonBlog, Boris Johnson claimed that once out of the EU we can ban the sale of shark fin soup.

Shark finning was banned in the EU some years ago, but the trade in shark fins cannot be banned, due to WTO rules, not because of the EU.

The USA is not able to ban the trade in shark fins either and for the same reason. It's against WTO rules.

This is how corrupted our politics has become

1) Brexiter MPs are raging about the Scottish court declared the parliament shut down was illegal because it was about Brexit, *even though* their main defence was that the shut down was standard & had nothing to do with #Brexit?
2) I'm not even sure how to write this it's so convoluted
We all know the parliament shut down was about #Brexit
The brexiters are upset with the court for this very reason, and are attacking the judges, again

Yet their PM insists that the shutdown is *not* about Brexit
3) so basically every time a #Brexit MP complains about "pressure being applied" to judges (a disgusting smear in itself) by anti #Brexit forces, they are admitting what we all know, that the shut down was only about Brexit and Johnson is lying

Can No 10's new approach to Northern Irish backstop break the #Brexit impasse? Tldr; it's a tall order - politically and technically.

To start with, let's be clear what No 10 is/isn't talking about.

They are ruling out an "NI-only" backstop which leaves Northern Irealand in EU's customs area and single market for the areas necessary to deliver a fully open border. /2
This is the NI-only backstop @MichelBarnier has in his bottom draw.

It was proposed in early 2018 and rejected by UK because it turned NI into a regulatory exclave of the EU.

No.10 and DUP say it remains unacceptable. BUT..../3

FWIW I think we are in a better place than we were a few weeks ago, even with the parliament shut down,so here's some thoughts before I go

2) Johnson's efforts to bounce us out on no deal have been well and truly blocked. The snap GE isn't going to happen, he's been embarrassed, and despite his bluster he will be forced to obey the law.

There is growing disquiet in the Tory ranks (though shockingly, not enough)
3) ...and in fact the number of 1 nation Tories prepared to keep their heads down is frankly disgusting, but there you go, perhaps there's a plan for tactical resignations

One ambassador said, “there is no desire to negotiate at all,”
UK asking for new EU mandate
“Will [EU] change the mandate? No. Change to what? What is the UK mandate ? There is not one,” said senior official
Frost also admitted that even without the backstop, the ERG could well block a deal
