Any plausible definition of “elites” includes the Professor of Politics, Philosophy and Law at King’s College, London.
That may seem snarky: but the key point is that anyone who blames “elites” needs to be pinned down as to precisely who they mean and precisely what those people should have done and didn’t.
If they can’t or won’t do that (and Tasoulias’ tweet didn’t do that) then it’s simply adding to the crisis and dysfunction of our politics rather than making any contribution to solving them.
And of course it has - since Catiline and Caesar, and through the 1930s to Trump, been a classic strategy of one part of the elite to seize power by denouncing their opponents as the elite.
