Today @TomSteyer dropped a new climate plan focused on international climate justice. It's got big ideas on accountability for polluters, climate refugees and more. Seems I'm out of retirement on climate plan analysis! Time for a brief THREAD.

The plan proposes to take in climate refugees by defining a new class if refugees and by increasing the number of refugees the US takes in. 2/
Climate change is happening now. There are already climate refugees. As @MichaelGerrard has proposed, the US has a responsibility to take in climate refuguees in proportion to its historic emissions. 3/

Echoing some ideas from @KateAronoff, the plan also proposes to hold big polluters accountable through a UN Environmental Crimes Tribunal. Very interesting! jacobinmag.com/2019/02/fossil…
There's also a lot of money on the table. The plan proposes $200B in total funding for global climate justice projects, which is the same level of funding that @BernieSanders has proposed. 5/

Like @ewarren's trade plan, @TomSteyer's latest plan also focuses on using trade to make progress on climate. It says it would end all American fossil fuel investments abroad and fossil fuel exports. 6/
