If David Frost, PM’s chief negotiator, distances himself from his boss’s “take it or leave it” bravado and signals that it is just an opening offer then negotiations might begin
BUT trust is in very short supply and many see it as a “kamikaze” offer designed to blow up talks while allowing Johnson to blame the EU for a no deal Brexit

View is that a very difficult call has been misinterpreted or exaggerated because Johnson offer on regulatory alignment (seen as positive) has been knocked back
