First EU take on briefed versions Boris Johnson's deal is “he cannot be serious”

Senior source close to negotiations: “This cannot be his last plan. It is unworkable to dissociate customs from the regulatory regime. No point in even considering a time limit on something that is unworkable."
NB reference to time limit.
Will Barnier “rubbish” the plan and pull the plug or give a more "open door for talks" signal. He briefs EU27 diplomats this evening
“If this is the final offer then it is no deal,” said an EU official

So where might there be some room to talk?
If David Frost, PM’s chief negotiator, distances himself from his boss’s “take it or leave it” bravado and signals that it is just an opening offer then negotiations might begin
BUT trust is in very short supply and many see it as a “kamikaze” offer designed to blow up talks while allowing Johnson to blame the EU for a no deal Brexit
