Ahrar al-Sharqiya is the jihadist militia Turkey is preparing to lead its assault on NE Syria.

The group was formed by the al-Nusra Front’s leading
sharia judge in East Syria. Most of its members are former al-Nusra members from Deir-ez-Zor.

Since being installed as a Turkish proxy in Afrin, the group has:

- "subjected civilians to high levels of violent crime robberies, harassment, abductions, and murder" [UN]

- committed multiple acts of "arbitrary detention, torture and enforced disappearance" [AMNESTY]

#Hol refugee camp latest statistics:

- 73,280 residents
- 30,000 Iraqi refugees among them, 4500 of whom have registered for return to Iraq
- 11,500 female ISIS members + children
- 260 deaths in the camp so far, most children who left Baghouz in critical condition
#Hol camp daily running costs:

- $10/person/day to meet the urgent basic needs (healthcare, food etc)
- $730,000 daily running costs minimum
- $262,800,000 yearly running costs minimum
- 3000 tents also urgently needed, along with infrastructure expansion, hygiene points etc.
Today Arab tribal leaders will meet in Ayn Issa to discuss the return of local refugees from #Hol camp to their communities.

Though the 11,500 foreign #ISIS women and children in al-Hol make the headlines, there are 30,000+ Syrians and 30,000 Iraqis in the camp as well.

1- Let's discuss the "facts" as told by Yasuda first: He was kidnapped as he crossed into #Syria from Turkey along a smuggling route by a group of men who pretended they were there to help him enter the country. He was transferred multiple times during his ordeal. ==>
2-Yasuda described how early on he was being beaten, prevented from moving or making any sound for days on end and being kept in complete isolation. He later converted to Islam so his captors would let him pray, giving him a rare chance to move around.
3-At other stages of his captivity, Yasuda's conditions improved and he was allowed to watch television, keep a journal and was assured he would not be killed.
