2 Dutch and 12 French children, orphans of ISIS fighters, have been handed over by the Autonomous Administration to representatives of their governments.
The transfers were made yesterday in Ain Issa, North East Syria.
- Attempt to repatriate 2 French children living with their mother in Hol camp was recently refused
- Apparent reversal from Dutch government, who previously said they wouldn't send officials to NE Syria
- Meetings in Paris to discuss int'l court proposed for 25 & 27 June, key EU States to attend
- French delegation discussed plans to open training center in NE Syria for de-mining teams
Asked by @RojavaIC about future repatriations to France and Holland, NE Syria's co-chair for external relations Abdulkareem Omar stated:
- only "humanitarian cases" are being repatriated to Europe
- Proposed international court in NE Syria will also include women
However we say yes to humanitarian cases such as orphans. We set up negotiations & hand them over.” - Abdulkareem Omar
However these comments indicate that women, as well as male fighters, could be tried in the court where evidence tied them to ISIS' crimes.
