I am guessing it is difficult to make a claim on a Nation if they are not Indigenous? Darryl Leroux, Professor @StMarysU says French Descent equals White and White does not equal Indigenous!😯😬I think plenty of people will take issue with this - There is that vigorous research.

A few thoughts on @ezraklein 's interview with Raj Chetty on the American Dream. vox.com/2019/8/15/2080…. I'm a big fan of both of them. But, we need to be clear about what we mean by "economic mobility" and about whether we're looking at trends or cross-national comparisons. /1
First on trends. Raj is right that few people (not me!) dispute that absolute mobility (outpacing your parents) has declined over time in the US. However! What's fascinating to me is that there's no discussion here of Raj's earlier finding about relative mobility trends. /2
Relative mobility is abt changing positions in the income distribution. If you were raised by parents in the poorest fifth, can you escape the poorest fifth? Prior to Chetty's abs mobility paper, liberals worried more about rel mobility, conservatives more about abs mobility. /3

@davidakin That was Harper’s strategy. He needed more time to indoctrinate rural Alberta and Ontario. He couldn’t change the broadcasting laws until he had a majority in senate and house. Once that was completed, the indoctrination commenced. First with Sun Network, and then Rebel Media.
@davidakin Sun Network couldn’t get the appropriate licensing to offer far right news. Switched to internet news. Internet is unregulated. Rebel can and does offer lies and false information.

Earnest efforts started when he opened Canadian Media to foreign ownership.
@davidakin The vast majority of news in rural Alberta and Ontario are owned by Postmedia. David Pecker used to be a Board member. Pecker and Trump are friends. That’s one degree of separation from Trump presidency and why rural AB & ON news sources are heavily biased.

Much criticism is made by MSM & opposition parties about LPC maintenance of water quality in FN communities. A little research reveals the truth about safe drinking water.

It’s a problem, and there are no easy or inexpensive solutions.
The conservatives had an abysmal record of addressing water crises in FN communities. Including Attawapiskat. Here’s a report from the Harper era. 10 years of ignoring the issue by Harper.

Liberals addressed 85 clean water advisories since 2015. Therefore Trudeau isn’t doing enough.

Seems a little hypocritical damning the government that has addressed more than half of clean water advisories in less than 4 years.

How many did Harper complete in 10 years?

1) No, the real scandal is that much of the discourse on this topic is devoid of factual analysis & intellectual honesty. Canadians are being misled by many (media, MPs, pundits) & are being robbed of the opportunity to have a healthy debate. Here’s one illustration... #cdnpoli
2) Fact-check: DPAs don’t “derail” prosecutions & are not tantamount to “dropping charges”; they defer prosecutions to allow for a negotiated outcome that guarantees sanctions unlike trials, which are binary.
Misleading: SNC has donated to *both* LPC & CPC, albeit mostly to LPC.
