The future of work is gradually taking over & you hate to see it.

The number of cashiers in the likes of Walmart & co continues to reduce as people continue to embrace the intro of self check out machines.
Plus, with self check out machines you don’t have to deal with any cashier having a bad day.

No human interaction whatsoever.

In addition to that, the speed of paying for what you buy is at your own pace.
Although, quite different with fast food coys as you still need someone to hand the food over to you.

However, 3 machines in a store means there are 3 less headcount to worry about.

Figure many of my followers would be interested in hearing about Cleanroom, because it's right at the intersection of software anthropology, software correctness, and empirical engineering. It works, we know it works, and yet nobody uses it. In this thread, I'll badly explain it.
Rule 1. All code is commented with its spec, usually contracts, invariants, and functional assertions.

Rule 2. All code must have an explanation of why it matches the spec. This may be informal, and often involves diagrams, visualizations, case analysis, whatever.
Rule 3. All code must be verified by code review. You sit down with the entire team and walk them through every line of code and every explanation of spec. If _any_ of them find it confusing, you have to go back and rewrite the code. Only when everybody likes it is it done.

Python is a high level language that runs bytecode in its virtual machine.
Everything is an object.
It supports OOP up to multiple inheritance and functional programming.
Typing is polymorphic - duck typing is preferred
A Python script is a file with a name like name.py - we indent at four spaces (it matters), comments (after #) don't execute - and is typically written like:

def main(): # function
print("Hello world")

if __name__ == '__main__': # then entry point
main()
A module is a reusable script:

"""this is a docstring at the top of the module - gives help on the module"""

import this # do imports at the top

def main(): # main at top or bottom
"""functions get docstrings too"""
