Mostly good news with a little bad news regarding Russia social media influence of U.S. Election 2020. Here's a few notes. 1) Russia narrative is still the same, "Pro-Trump, Pro-Populist, Anti-establishment"
washingtonpost.com/technology/201…
2) some good news, Facebook seems to be catching Russian campaigns earlier. During the "Mimicry" phase of infiltrating U.S. audiences. See here at @SecureDemocracy securingdemocracy.gmfus.org/advanced-persi…
@SecureDemocracy 3) Russia's timeline appears the same as Election 2016, infiltrate audiences along social divides in the year prior to the election (2019) in preparation for influencing them along political lines during 2020 securingdemocracy.gmfus.org/so-what-did-we…
@SecureDemocracy 4) disagree article's assertion about Instagram. Russia went Instagram because that's where younger, populist left democratic voters are. Russia plan "Secure the base, Split the Opposition" Target audience analysis 101, go to platform where audience is that you seek to demobilize
@SecureDemocracy 5) the AOC, Sanders, anti- Biden narrative is designed for populist left younger voters, Split Opposition on Instagram. Secure the base of older conservatives on Facebook.
@SecureDemocracy 6) Meme's are easier to craft for influence, but they are also easier to copy, so here's some bad news, Russia won't make much content or fake news in 2020, there is plenty of divisive U.S. content for them to repurpose.
@SecureDemocracy 7) Facebook take down of Russia yesterday fits the larger strategy of the Kremlin in 2020. "Secure the base and Split the Opposition." It's working, but not because of their social media operations thus far.
