Lets talk about about a few things related to #climatechange, if you don't mind. I'm no expert. This is just what I think. 1/
First, understand what getting to net zero by 2050 as the @liberal_party have promised looks like. It's a generational challenge similar to landing on the moon. Maybe we should have a more modest goal or be more transparent about what is required to get there. 2/
Second, history has been marked by moving from lower density energy to higher density energy. If we are serious about moving to lower density energy like wind and solar, that will have enormous impacts on agriculture and biodiversity as Vaclav Smil notes. 3/

[Thread] The IPCC report from 2018 that talked about the 1.5C rise...

It says 1.5C is going to happen around 2030.

It also says the climate will get to >1.5C if every major economy doesn't start decarbonising rapidly now.

That's what the 12 years was about.

The previous IPCC reports discuss where we're headed with "business as usual".

Currently that is around +4C (+/-1ish) by 2100. This figure keeps getting revised *upwards* though.

The bizarre thing from my point of view is that very little seems to have changed.

The IPCC report came out in October 2018.

No government has actually taken the recommendations seriously yet.

The UK Government declared a *non binding* "Climate Emergency" 👏

Mueller's probe is entering it's 'critical phase' according to the media.

They still haven't figured out what's going on.

When they became aware of the 'secret society' making it's moves to spy on/entrap Trump & his people.
It's all coming together. The plotters spent the time from the election to early Jan. setting up a plan to use Flynn's phone calls about Russian sanctions as a pretext to launch an investigation they could turn into an impeachment.
