[Thread] The IPCC report from 2018 that talked about the 1.5C rise...

It says 1.5C is going to happen around 2030.

It also says the climate will get to >1.5C if every major economy doesn't start decarbonising rapidly now.

That's what the 12 years was about.

The previous IPCC reports discuss where we're headed with "business as usual".

Currently that is around +4C (+/-1ish) by 2100. This figure keeps getting revised *upwards* though.

The bizarre thing from my point of view is that very little seems to have changed.

The IPCC report came out in October 2018.

No government has actually taken the recommendations seriously yet.

The UK Government declared a *non binding* "Climate Emergency" 👏

What would "taking the IPCC SR15 report seriously" look like?

* Removing fossil fuel subsidies
* Investing *heavily* in renewables
* Diesel scrappage schemes
* Car free city centres
* Serious increase in public transit infrastructure
* Frequent flyer tax
* ...

These are big problems that need big solutions.

There are a number of us that are startup veterans looking to work in this space.

Hardest thing?

Finding investors.

I would love to bring together some investors in this space because there are some great opportunities.

Whatever happens, we're going to need some innovation

And that innovation isn't always going to come from the 20 year old genius.

Some of us have families

Maybe that's a greater motivation in the #ClimateCrisis era.
