BIG NEWS: House Dems introducing a bill to take in 50K climate refugees per year.

There are currently *no* laws domestically or internationally protecting climate refugees. There's no recognition & no definition of their plight.

This is a first step.

Climate issues are immigration issues.

The most commonly cited estimate says we'll see 200 million *more* refugees specifically due to climate change by 2050.

But estimates range from 25 million to 1 billion more.

We have to get this right, now.
If we cannot ensure our immigration system is set up to welcome climate refugees today, we'll have little hope of doing so in the future.

We need to push for specific legal protections for those fleeing climate change. We have to start setting up a framework to deal w/this.
