Crypto Daily 3@3 - 10.31 | Why did Satoshi choose Halloween to publish the bitcoin whitepaper? pscp.tv/w/cIsmtTE0Nzc1…
What are we talking about today?

A fun quick look asking the question of *WHY* Satoshi chose halloween, looking at two possibilities:

1) Historical analogy (Luther's reformation theses on 10/31/1517)
2) Samhain symbolism
My take:

1. Satoshi strikes me as extremely intentional; I can't believe it was random.

2. I love both the historical analogy and the Samhain symbolism argument. The transition from 10/31 - 11/1 is significant in a huge number of cultures.
But the bigger takeaway is this:

Part of what makes bitcoin so powerful *IS* the myth-making enabled by Satoshi's departure from the scene.

The ability to create and debate these sort of myths is part and parcel of believing that this digital network can transform the world.
Big ups to @danheld and @LeoAW whose interpretations and myth making around the Halloween whitepaper date I go in depth on.
