Why such a huge variance between North and South Dakota?

North Dakota grounds for divorce"
No fault:

Fault:
1) adultery;
2, extreme cruelty
3. willful desertion,
4. willful neglect
5; abuse of alcohol or controlled substances
6. felony conviction.

So the laws can't be the reason, right? They're same.

So it's something else. What's the difference in culture between North and South Dakota? It must be very big indeed if one state has the lowest divorce rate and the other has the second-highest in the union.

Seems about the same.

North Dakota has the most churches per capita of any state. North's not far off, though. Both lean GOP.

I really have no idea why Northern marriages are so much more likely to last. There's got to be a reason, though.
