Naturally (dare I say?), a basic intro to #MMT was in order. One of the sources was episode 2 of the @MMTpodcast by @christreilly (a comedian) & @PatriciaNPino (an engineer) discussing #MMT & #MonetarySovereignty. 2/n

I'm told that this sparked a very lively discussion that will continue in class next week. I've always said that this paradigm shift will not take place under the leadership of mainstream economists & their admirers. 3/n

The #MMT community is a coalition of progressive economists who have developed an analytical framework that can answer the "how do you pay for it" question in a way that decouples taxing & spending at the national level, and shows that we can afford a more equitable, 4/n

prosperous, just, and ecologically sustainable system without causing inflation and without bankrupting the system. This coalition now includes academics outside the economics profession, scientists, lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, artists, journalists, 4/n

entrepreneurs, policymakers, activists, and beyond. We are eternally grateful for the hard work of so many people in this journey. Too many to name here (it's a movement!), but you know who you are. 6/6
