Today I am going to teach beginning meme making skills for resisters. I am not a professional graphics person, just a mom who is fighting like hell 4 democracy. I have made thousands of memes since the Orange nightmare took office & created meme groups to help others learn.
Pic Collage is an app I recommend for beginners. I use many apps, but this 1 is my favorite, especially for beginners. The best way to learn is by experimenting, but I will give you some guidance.
Now, I have an android, so your screen won't look exactly like this when you open this app if you have an iPhone. Click freestyle for this lesson.
This is the menu. You can access this by clicking on the plus sign. Your menu on the iPhone should be along the bottom of the screen. My favorite option on the menu is the web search. Click on that and type "Trump png" in the search bar. Select 1 or more and click the blue check.
To move or manipulate the images drag them. Pinch in or out or manipulate the arrow in the corner of the image. See it in my 3rd image. Notice how the background is invisible. That's because we did a search for a PNG as opposed to a jpg. You can put Trump's head on a pig. Lol
Then click the plus to reopen the main menu. Type your text. Choose your font in the T section of this menu, PLEASE SELECT EASY TO READ FONTS AND CONTRASTING COLOR this way people with visual problems can read it & everyone will be more likely to read it!
Click the inkdrop on the text menu to change the color. Click the inkdrop in the box to select a background for your textbox. Or click the gray square with the crossed out circle in the top left corner of the color section to choose no background.
Choose the 3 dots to determine text box alignment or an outline for your font. Click the blue check button in the top right corner when done editing your text. Use the blue bar on the left of the text box to align the textbox length.
To edit your text or a picture hold your finger on it for 4 seconds & a menu will pop up.
To be continued after lunch, lol.
So when you make yours, please share them with me. Let's continue. If you have questions & are making pro-Democratic memes. DM me & you can join our group. Now to add an additional textbox, just click on the plus sign & then text. BTW THE ARROW IN THE TOP RIGHT IS THE UNDO BUTTON
See the blue bar to the left of the text, drag that to change the length of your text. To delete a text box or image swipe it off to the top right corner or touch it for 4 seconds until the menu pops up & click remove. #mememaking #learn2makememes
Then choose a background. Click the plus and select background from the menu. Choose your color or do a web search & choose an image for background that way. #mememaking
Choose your picture. Then touch it for 4 seconds to open the menu & then select set as background. Yuck. I will the click undo button a couple of times because I don't like that or once you click undo, you can click redo right next to it to compare what you prefer. #mememaking
Ok, that's a better color, but now you can't read the text, so I brought up the text menu & clicked edit to change the color. Now please always add your Twitter handle so people feel as though they can save & share your memes. Also they might follow you 2 see more of your work.
You can also duplicate text boxes and images via the text menu as I did with the word liar. Now you may be wondering how I found that picture of Bill Taylor that appears to have a transparent background. It didn't. I used the cut option on the picture menu to do that.
I saved a picture of bill Taylor from a Google search witha screenshot. Then I pressed plus to bring up the menu. I chose photo this time and selected the screenshot. Then I pulled up the photo menu & selected cutout.
On 1 image I used my finger to trace it with the scissors selection& on the other I used auto which is great when it works, but it doesn't always work. Click the blue check when you are done. Now to save your project click gone on the bottom right.
Then click save to gallery. Voila! Now you have the basics. More later. DM me if you'd like to join our meme-making room or a Democrat Senatorial Candidate room. I also teach Gif making.
Let's do another tutorial. This time download Photo Lab. The icon looks different for iPhones. I believe it is purple. I use the free version of all the apps though I did pay something like $3 to remove the watermark from pic collage. Photo lab will solicit with every picture.
But, I still love it. It's amazing the way you can alter images with their beautiful filters! You just have to live with their constant ads if you want the free version. It's not as versatile as pic collage though, so I often use the 2 apps together.
Open the app & select a filter you prefer. Don't choose 1 that says Pro. Sometimes you can view an ad so you can use the pro filters free. But I just use the free filters.
Then choose a picture from your camera roll. I chose Democratic Senator Doug Jones of Alabama. You can zoom in, btw. It's best to use an image with a solid background. I clicked the green arrow & then I got an add which I X-ed out of. Then I waited for the filter to generate.
We need to help Doug Jones because he's in the most vulnerable seat in the Senate. Click on the plus sign for the menu. Click add text. Type your text. Click the check in the top right corner when you are done.along the bottom is the text box menu.
The star is for style. Scroll through. Disregard the font, that comes next. Choose 1 you like the outline or background for. The Aa is for the font menu. Choose 1. The ink icon is the color menu and the two tone ink drop is for transparency. Drag the text box to move it.
Pinch in or out to change the size. I added additional text boxes by clicking the green checkmark & then the plus sign & text again. You can see I manipulated the transparency. I also doubled the text so as to highlight it more. The pen icon is to edit your text which I also did.
Then I clicked on the menu & then art & effects. Experiment. Nothing is really applied or finalized until you click the check mark. You can layer effects in this app which is super cool.
I always take a screenshot & crop it, before saving officially.
Here, I saved it the real way by cooking on the 3 dots in the top right corner. Then click save to device. Then click download on the bottom. Then you get an ad. X out of it, or click go back. See the ad. A cheapskate's necessary nuisance. Lol.
Ut oh, the watermark blocks the E in senate so I clicked go back & moved the text box.
Now I will go back to Pic Collage and add some more information about Alabama & his website address. I will also add my Twitter handle so people feel free to save and share. But not tonight. I'm being summoned by my family. Gnite.
