This was not a UN report, it was a statement made by one idiot who works at the UN based on “environmental degradation” he saw on a tour of one poor neighborhood in AL.

Same 2003 study found 23% in CA and 22% in NY (both very blue states) lack basic prose literacy.
There is no "real America". People in CA are not any less American than AL, they just disagree. But these ignorant attempts to insult and look down on people you disagree with are not helpful.

Especially when you use information that's intentionally misleading.
But that's what happens when you start with a conclusion only look for information that fits your preferred narrative. You find a stat or headline like 15% are illiterate and don't bother to even look at what the same study said about states you are trying to claim are better.
