Farage’s Brexit move means a pact among progressives is now urgent | Polly Toynbee |
“Labour’s obtuse refusal to stand down anywhere is a colossal stumbling block: theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
“Its rule book prevents it, party chiefs say, though that rule-book is ignored whenever the ruling clique wants to impose a candidate against local wishes.”

We all saw that conference vote.
Polly Toynbee points, most recently to this example

“Look at the disgraceful way Sally Gimson, a fairly selected candidate in Bassetlaw, was ejected by head-office diktat in order to impose one of its own.”
There IS some local informal cooperation going on in some places.

Sometimes Labour is cooperating.

Sometimes (as in Lewes) Labour is actually helping to back the LD candidate but the Green candidate is refusing to step aside. But it IS an issue in this Tory Seat.
Correction. From people in Lewes it seems Labour is NOT backing the LD candidate, indeed it seems they get sacked by Lab HQ if they try.

Maybe just diverting main attention elsewhere where the seat is more winnable.
