Conclusion: Prevalence of vitamin B12 deficiency is 47% in north Indian population. This data shows that Vitamin B12 deficiency is widespread in Indian population (article is wrong about India being largely vegetarian though)

Apparently healthy Indian lactovegetarians have significantly lower vitamin B12 as compared to non-vegetarians. This is not due to defective absorption but to low dietary intake of this vitamin. karger.com/Article/PDF/20… Study done in 1975!!
