Exceptional week at many (and all) levels. At the center, is the great privilege of becoming an American. Lots of boxes to check, lots of forms, but with that came the deeply meaningful experience of revisiting civics and US history.
Friends held US civics game nights and suffered pop quizzes (teens love it, BTW). I made it my business to make sure everyone had to answer 20 Qs on the USCIS civics app. apps.apple.com/us/app/uscis-c…. I even practiced with a friend while keeping her company during her chemotherapy.
I answered the questions in the oath 3 times before reciting it (under oath). A dear friend who attended the ceremony remarked how severe it sounded. It is. The responsibility is serious and I think it should be. A lot of sacrifice by a lot of people goes into preserving freedom. 
Finally, after the oath, and before the (also naturalized) judge's pitch perfect remarks (vote, y'all), we heard from a fellow naturalized American, who shared a quote by @adriennemaree. I'm grateful my children where there to hear it. It applies to them, and it applies to you.
And if that weren't enough, some of my favorite Americans from Team @CMCharlesAllen presented me w my very own DC flag (thank you @laurahmarks). It was flown at JAWB in honor of my citizenship. So fitting, as local gov inspires me to engage & contribute. I am filled w/ gratitude.
