On the World Bank's new measure of harmonized test scores, the U.S. comes out looking really good. We're well ahead of China, and about equal to Sweden.

Hmm, maybe our education system isn't as bad as people say. ;-)

Note that China's rural numbers are extrapolated from income levels. But American kids as a whole actually do better than Chinese kids in Beijing+Shanghai+Jiangsu+Guangdong, which is impressive considering those are China's top cities.

Strike Indonesia from the list. And possibly France, where protests have dwindled.
The unrest seems grouped into two main geographic clusters - one in Latin America (including also the collapse of Venezuela and the recently concluded protests in Ecuador) reflecting traditional left-right cleavages, and one in the Middle East.

1/OK it's time for a thread called "Blackpilling the Groypers".

(For those who have lives off of the internet, "groypers" are dorky internet Nazis and "blackpilling" means filling people with despair to the point of helplessness)
2/The groypers hoped that Trump would halt immigration in order to keep America's populace as white as possible.

But here is a picture of the number of lawful permanent residencies granted during Trump's first year.

First, I was surprised at how close the industry has come to gender parity, though no doubt this obscures major inequity in position, compensation, working conditions, etc.

Also a bit surprised by how middle-of-the-road journalists’ politics are.
Canadian journalists see themselves as occupying a “monitorial” role, focusing on informing the public and explaining current events.
