This is back to the problem of the two U.S. policies. Morrison, like others, was following stated policy, and ignoring (rightly) the off-the-books policy that Trump really wanted and was implementing through Rudy. Still, Morrison wasn’t dumb, and sought legal cover. But... /1
At this point, everyone involved, including Volker, has admitted that there was a second policy. Morrison is standing firm that he knows no such thing, even criticizing Vindman for taking his complaint to legal channels outside The Family. /2
In the end the only difference this afternoon is that Volker has admitted he sees what happened, while Morrison is claiming that he saw no such thing - while nonetheless admitting that for some reason he immediately sought out a lawyer after the call. Well, okay. /3x
