What would a Green New Deal for NYCHA look like?
Sorely needed maintenance, energy retrofits, climate proofing, and good quality jobs for residents, for starters.

@DianaBudds' headline and kicker say it all. And thanks for quotes on just how brilliantly this policy connects dots
@DianaBudds And thanks for including my history take. I've been thinking a lot lately about the public housing road not taken in the New Deal. NYC had already developed beautiful non-market housing forms, and housing advocates like Gail Radford were touring Red Vienna and German cities

There's only ONE 2020 campaign that has welcomed me, embraced me, and made me feel part of something bigger:

#BernieSanders

Why is that? Why is team #Bernie so welcoming, especially after my harsh criticism of him in 2016?
Yes, I know it's not about me. But as a citizen and voter, I find it odd that campaigns and candidates I've supported and praised have done ZERO to draw me in, while #Bernie2020 has been encouraging, sharing, welcoming.

Is that why he has the largest movement?
And to elaborate:

I'm looking to help grow a major, sustained, dedicated, progressive movement to defeat rightwing extremists.

Not that interested in fealty to an individual candidate.

What I'm finding with the #Bernie campaign is that there is a genuine movement behind it.

Today, #OilMoneyMitch @senatemajldr brought the #GreenNewDeal to a vote in the Senate. Once more, McConnell prioritized his fossil fuel campaign donors over the American people--who overwhelmingly support the GND. @SenateDems showed him they weren’t falling for his tricks.
@senatemajldr @SenateDems The votes officially fell against the resolution because Democrats voted “present.” Both GND supporters and skeptics see that real leadership in 2019 means having a plan to protect life on Earth as we know it, not jamming through unfinished legislation to score political points.
.@AOC and @SenMarkey catalyzed the conversation about the catastrophic climate change and rising inequality that threaten all Americans. Now, thanks to our movement and our allies, a growing number of our country’s lawmakers are going on the offense for bold climate solutions.

I commend @AOC, @EdMarkey & #GreenNewDeal co-sponsors for putting the urgent need to confront #climatechange with an ambitious clean energy mobilization on the top of the political agenda. This is an urgent threat. Confronting it is a real opportunity for economic renewal.
