While we think of Thanksgiving as an American holiday, we don't have the market cornered on harvest celebrations.

I explored autumn festivals from around the world in this series for @rosettastone , including sharing traditional recipes.

(2) First up we have Sukkot, a biblically-based holiday sometimes called the Festival of Booths where Jewish people celebrate the exodus of the Israelites and the bounty God provided.

Also, there's challah with honey and I'm ALWAYS down for that.

(3) Next we have Olivagando. Italians celebrate la dolce goccia or the “sweet drop" with a fall festival. I chat with @chefchuck1 about why Italians value olive oil and how to choose a good one.

I also made a very pretty olive oil cake. You're welcome.

(4) One of the most widely celebrated is the Moon or Mid Autumn festival. The Chinese tell their children about Chang'e , the beautiful lady in the moon, and eat mooncakes.

Mine aren't quite as gorgeous but my Chinese friend gave me an "A" for effort.

(5) Next, we travel to India to celebrate Makar Sankranti, a colorful festival filled with bonfires, feasts and kite flying. I chat with @nehathemartian to learn more about how the festival is celebrated

Bonus: A simple recipe for til gul or sesame sweets

(6) Nicknamed Korean Thanksgiving, you'll find similarities in Chuseok including traffic jams, sports & a big feast.

Koreans say making beautiful songpyeon (Chuseok's colorful rice cakes), means you'll get a beautiful daughter
Don't tell mine she's doomed

(7) And lastly, we explore Thanksgiving. I chat with @Chef_Sean , founder of @the_sioux_chef , about how to respectfully celebrate the holiday without whitewashing history.

Sean also shares a recipe for a Thanksgiving side from his award-winning cookbook.

#HappyThanksgiving friends from my family to yours. Let's make sure that tolerance & a taste for adventure are always welcome at the table
