After discussing with a theist about evolution, I decided to take the conversation private because it was getting nowhere publicly. I repeatedly asked this individual what books he read on evolution. In reply he sent me Ahmadiyya videos. ... /1
What I was trying to understand is "On what basis did you come up to the conclusions that evolution is false? Is it mainly because of religious teachings? Have you ever picked up a book and studied it?" /2
I find we spend so much energy arguing evolution and sending articles and videos back and forth but we never stop to ask the basic questions first - did you ever study this subject? I don't mean become an expert.. Just read a book on it. Watch some videos, read some articles /3
How is it that people can argue so much about a topic they never studied at even a basic level? The level of discourse and the arguments thrown at darwinistic evolution are typically strawman or really shallow. /4
Dawkins in the first few pages of his book "The Greatest Show on Earth" answers questions like "Why are there still monkeys" and "It's just a theory". But nobody bothers to read. They just blindly defend their beliefs. /5
To my friends, don't get into a shouting match. Just go back to the basics. What books have you read on evolution? Stop the discussion and ask them to please read one. Refuse to continue until you get an answer. If they won't read, discussion is pointless. /6
I left Islam first and then learned about evolution later. And what I learned blew me away. There was so much evidence for this theory. It is so well fitted to the data. There is no better explanation out there with such predictive power. Really, nature is beautiful. /7
Don't think you need to disbelieve in god to believe in evolution. That's another folly. The two can go hand in hand. Evolution is neither theistic or atheistic. It's simply a process in nature. /8
There is nothing in nature to stop evolution from accumulating several thousands of minor changes into major changes. The distinction between species is simply one of reproduction. Can they mate and have babies? If not, they are different species. /9
The fossil evidence lays bare further evidence for evolution. All the fossils are in the right order. We never find a flowering plant that comes after say mammals. Or mammals found older than fish. They are all in the precise order described by evolution. /10
The only real argument against evolution is coming from religious circles. Academics may nitpick on minor details and then opponents blow these up and try to make these seem like major disagreements. There is no major disagreement. /11
Evolution is a fact just as much as the geocentric model of our solar system is a fact. It's _possible_ we might come up with a better model, but the likelihood of that gets ever less day by day. /12
It's also possible that under certain conditions we may find a model that fits better - like how quantum mechanics is applied at the scale of very small while Newtonian works at the scale of larger objects. But Newtonian physics are still an excellent and working model. /13
Evolution is a model too. And a really great one with predictive power. Look up Darwin's Moth. It was predicted using evolution. /14 
Don't let religion muddle your brain and stop you from thinking. Don't let fear of the unknown stop you from learning the beautiful facts of nature. Evolution IS true. The end. /15
