THREAD: The sad decline of @georgegalloway

On last weeks #MOATS, @ggmoats angrily lambasted a caller for suggesting George had been "disloyal to JC". The caller was right. Tho he once followed me, I'm now blocked, for questioning his regular attacks on JCs #brexit strategy. 1/
GG has fuelled unfair criticism of Corbyn. He must know JC could not simply dictate his personal preference to be party policy. Labour has been democratised & that is a good thing. GG must know JC had to triangulate in order to keep his majority remainer party on board. 2/
Corbyn has done the impossible and corralled a hostile Blairite PLP well enough to reach another election with the party more unified & stronger than anyone could have predicted, given the unprecedented tsunami of sabotage Corbyn had to contend with. 3/
Of course JC would prefer to campaign purely on leaving the EU, his 30 years of speaking against it attest to that, but it is unfair of GG to have been routinely lambasting him for his middle furrow approach. If Corbyn had gone into this election tryin to say... 4/
... Labour would only be supporting a leave deal & not a 2nd ref:
A) conf would not have supported him & he would have lost a massive amount of authority
B) Labour would have haemmorhaged far more voters to the Lib Dems than they might to Farage given their support for PV. 5/
So then he would not win the election & not be in a position to curate a decent deal. That he has kept Labour on course to support a leave option, via being officially neutral is a wonder. That he got conference to support his neutral stance & reject 'remain only' is HUGE. 6/
GG does not give JC credit for having fought that battle almost single handedly.
He should stand down in West Brom. He said his mission was to "remove JCs biggest thorn: Watson" well he's done that & we are grateful. Now all he will do is split the Labour vote & let a Tory in. 7/
If Labour lose out on being the largest party by 2 seats, his so called honest socialist credentials will have been less than useless, GG will have been a dire hindrance. And he will be of no use to socialism as a losing candidate under a Johnson government. 8/
GG doubled down on his insistance he was only "telling the truth" that Labour would not win the GE.
George does not know who will win. Labours chances of winning improve dramatically if key left-leavers like him spend their time talking about why its important that they do. 9/
Instead, GG has amplified vehemently anti-JC types. Just look at his RTs & tweet replies. He blocks those who defend JCs admittedly compromised strategy, & gives free reign to those who denounce his value. If Labour lose, GG will have helped to facilitate it. 10/
He also presents to the world the horrid Tory with a comb over @adamgarriereal as "Britain's cleverest man", who spends all his time slagging JC off & actually backing Johnson, who won't get us a 'proper brexit' anyway. 11/
In a recent campaign meeting, GG said he would vote for BJs "sham" deal over JCs PV (which would facilitate a decent brexit that protects workers rights etc). So fuck you George.
For Labour to win, it needs voices like yours, instead u unfairly characterise JCs strategy. 12/
GG has fuelled Johnsons false narrative that this election is only about brexit and that only he can #GetBrexitDone. When the truth is his deal is not brexit, will not get it done & crucially will do precisely fuck all to aid the working class that GG claims to represent. 13/
If BJ wins & somehow gets his UK-splitting deal thru parl, this country will suffer. The WC will suffer most. The left swing that began in 2015 could be halted & Labour could move back towards the center. It is imperative that the momentum JC has is maintained. 14/
