I just saw the news about Kamala Harris withdrawing and all I can think is I would love to live in a country where extremely qualified, brilliant black women could go further in presidential politics than otherwise mediocre white men with a pile of money.
To be perfectly clear, there are brilliant people of all races/genders. The problem is that the brilliant women, specifically the brilliant black women, so often have their brilliance overlooked or downright sabotaged. That simply doesn't happen to white men.
And for those of you saying, "Well Harris wasn't a perfect candidate." No shit. Nobody is a perfect candidate.
The madness is that this country requires a "perfection" from women, specifically black women, that it simply does not demand of white men.

Harris is my senator & I am legit upset about this. What fucking standard are we using to choose our leaders? Everyone knows black women are the backbone of the Democratic Party. It's time we dropped the insane MINE FIELD of double standards black women face and let them lead.
