I'm not very happy with the gov.uk pensions pages.

Tried to do lifetime pension protection. Every time I tried to log on I got "Bad request" page and was kicked out of the site (back button didn't work).

I'd tried yesterday, and was told to get a new Government Gateway ID (I've had one for over a decade for tax self-assessment.) Did that. Logged in. Got a code via SMS to my mobile.

Put the code in - "Bad request" page.

Tried again, several times, on different computers, different browsers, in incognito windows... Same every time.

Eventually decided to try logging in to the tax pages with the new ID.

This time I was asked for additional details to confirm my ID - name, dob, and then some details from a choice of payslips, last P60, or passport.

Did all that, and got into the tax pages.

Then I tried again at the pensions LTA protection pages - and then it worked.

But before I found a way that worked, which required far more ingenuity on my part than gov.uk has any right to expect that customers will have!

I could find no advice screens or other information on what was going wrong, why it wouldn't work, or what I could do about it.
