If you are [or a member of your family is] - a student, away from home, have you registered to vote?

In the general election you can only vote once; but you can decide which address to vote in; and you don't need to decide until the last moment.

You can make this choice on convenience or any other basis.

You can register to vote here:

You might decide that one of the constituencies you could vote in is a "safe seat", where your vote is unlikely to make any difference; while the other is more "marginal" - where voting, especially voting tactically, has a better chance of influencing the outcome.

I strongly recommend you get a postal vote - that way you can be confident of voting in good time, and not missing your opportunity because events on the day got in the way. (There is evidence that people who choose to have a postal vote are more likely to use it.)

Ps - you can register to vote when you are 16 (14 in Scotland), 2 years before you can vote, so that you can vote even if polling day is on the birthday on which you reach voting age.
