That is the correct term for what Kenney and UCP ministers are currently doing to Albertans.

If you’ve ever doubted Kenney, UCP & all Canadian Conservatives are trying to destroy democracy in Alberta and Canada, this thread demonstrates clearly that they are.

This is called GASLIGHTING. It’s how criminal, corrupt & evil regimes hide their malevolent deeds in plain sight. Operating out in the open, they commit a deed & then deny it was a crime, deny you witnessed it, deny it was them you witnessed or call it clean up of past govts.

"Who do you trust, me or your lying eyes?"

This is the question that Kenney & UCP Ministers continue to ask Albertans.

Cuts to healthcare, education, taxes for corporations, delisting of medical services, misuse of taxpayer dollars, removal of human rights.

All Gaslighting.

Gaslighting is a tactic long used by dictators and despots to consolidate power and commit atrocities.

Trump & other “democratically elected” government operatives installed by nefarious methods, have introduced GASLIGHTING to democracy.

To destroy democracy & truth.

It’s a technique further perfected by Putin and his totalitarian dictatorship, also known as a “guided democracy.”

This is the form of governance autocrats are using globally to consolidate power, & to discombobulate & confuse populations.

It’s mind numbing & intended to be.

Apparently it is possible to have your cake and eat it too. That’s what GASLIGHTING does. Statements that shock some & reassure others, prove you can have it both ways.

Kenney and UCP Ministers titillate and excite the libertarian hardliners, Dominionist Christians and various haters with the draconian budget cuts and policy changes meant to harm the vulnerable.

Those of us who are up in arms at the brutality and injustice are not fooled. But the denials of hurtful intent, the cuts dressed up as increases when inflation and more people means they are deep cuts, might appease the casual observer of politics in Alberta.

That’s who the intended consumer of these false declarations are intended to appease. Not the pundits and policy wonks who can see this is snake oil from 100 miles away. This narrative is strictly for those that are low information or moderate information consumers.

And it works. Many people will look at the increase in funding and be convinced that those of us screaming “these are austerity cuts” are the crazy ones. We are the ones creating havoc by presenting false narratives. Progressives are lying.

UCP reinforces that belief daily.

That’s how GASLIGHTING works folks.

It’s further enhanced and exacerbated by “firehose crises”. Of which Kenney and UCP have taken full advantage.

Truth is almost impossible to discern using these two tactics. GASLIGHTING and firehose crises combined.

That’s why Trump is still in power. That’s how he plans to beat conviction of impeachment in the US senate. As long as he can maintain a level of doubt about what the truth is, he is guaranteed Senate Republicans will not vote to convict. So far he’s winning the battle.

Few of us can keep up with all the facts all the time. The intent is to keep MSM and political discourse so overwhelmed with the sheer number of crises, truth remains elusive. Most give up. And are resigned to accept what they are told.

That’s what UCP are up to in Alberta.

UCP and Jason Kenney are using tactics and strategies to confuse the public and keep both progressives and conservatives discombobulated and unable to discern truth from fiction.

Is that effort connected to Russia and foreign interference?

I can’t answer that question. CSIS can maybe, or RCMP intelligence.

But UCP is using the established techniques developed by Soviets during the Cold War and still used by Russia today.

However, I do know that whether UCP’s efforts are linked to Russia or not, these methods are not in any fashion democratic or beneficial to democracy. They are used by Russia to destroy democratic principles and they are being used for the same purpose by UCP.

It doesn’t really matter if it’s Russia, China, US or just the independent & malevolent choice of Canadian Conservatives. It only matters that the public is aware of what’s happening and aware there is an active attempt by UCP and Jason Kenney to eliminate democracy in Alberta.

What you do with this information can aid conservatives or help to maintain democracy by refusing to be GASLIT.

The choice is yours.
