The @DNC announced details of the next 4 presidential primary debates.
News: @Apple is a partner.

@axios: axios.com/dnc-host-four-…
1/14: @CNN/ @DMRegister
2/7: @ABC / @WMUR9 / @AppleNews
2/19: @NBCNews / @TheNVIndy
2/25: @CBSNews / @CBCInstitute / @Twitter
@DNC @Apple @axios @CNN @DMRegister @ABC @WMUR9 @AppleNews @NBCNews @TheNVIndy @CBSNews @CBCInstitute @Twitter As @SarahFisher highlighted, this is the first time that @AppleNews is a partner.
Some unknowns about the role Apple will play:
Will editorial staff will be involved? Who?
Will @Apple promote the debate, be involved in streaming, or sourcing questions?

The role @Twitter will play isn't entirely clear yet, but we can guess: a dedicated URL for livestreaming with hashtags & maybe sourcing questions.

A 2015 #DemDebate had a tweeted question:
blog.twitter.com/en_us/a/2015/h…
What if hosts posed the most retweeted questions? Too gameable?
As @SarahFisher also noted, @Facebook – the world's biggest social network, with the ability to share a #DemDebate livestream into the newsfeed of 221 million US users – isn't a partner in these 4 debates.
Neither is @YouTube.

It would be surprising if both don't co-host any.
@SarahFisher @Facebook @YouTube Tonight, @Apple is a partner in #DemDebate axios.com/newsletters/ax… …but @axios' link to questions collected doesn't resolve! Neither does @AppleNews': This is BS. Way below tech company standards from cycles past. Public & press should see Qs + who asked. Image
@SarahFisher @Facebook @YouTube @Apple @axios @AppleNews This perfectly encapsulates the problem with shifting public discourse & politics from the open Web into the walled gardens of an unaccountable tech company.

And @TheDemocrats & @ABC partnered *willingly*, allowing question collection & selection to be opaque in a key #DemDebate
@SarahFisher @Facebook @YouTube @Apple @axios @AppleNews @TheDemocrats @ABC News networks should partner with tech companies, but not like this.

Ask the public to submit questions, & then vote for questions.

Then, have beat reporters act as the public’s tribunes, asking followup Q's to ensure that candidates answer on camera:
e-pluribusunum.org/2019/06/27/nbc…
@SarahFisher @Facebook @YouTube @Apple @axios @AppleNews @TheDemocrats @ABC A DECADE ago, @Mlsif & PDF relaunched a "platform that allows citizens to submit videos of questions for candidates, vote on the best and then rate the quality of the answers.": huffpost.com/entry/pdf-rela… It is beyond frustrating that the @DNC hasn't reinvented #DemDebate in 2020.
