In 2015 #Birmingham created a city minimum wage of $10.10 an hour after the state refused to create a minimum wage higher than the federal $7.25 an hour wage. Days later, the state passed a new law voiding any attempt by cities in #Alabama to raise the #minimumwage.
We submitted an amicus brief supporting a lawsuit filed on behalf of two Black worker making less than $10.10 an hour in Birmingham. Today an appellate court panel ruled to dismiss the case.
