annual reviews thread
as with all reviews, you don’t need to do annual reviews chronologically. do them when the big picture has changed or needs to. e.g.: you have a new job or career, new living situation, you need a fresh start.

a lot of different productivity experts have shared their methods for doing annual reviews. here are a few I've come across: @JamesClear @fortelabs @TaylorPearsonMe @alexvermeer Daniel Schmactenberger
the main point of the annual review is to reflect on the previous year, and to plan / set intentions for the next year.
my takeaway from James Clear: annual reviews can be as simple as looking at what worked, what didn’t, and what’s next

my takeaway from Tiago: narrative vision of what you’re aiming for helps your brain get on board / move towards what’s next on subconscious / prerational levels

my takeaway from Daniel Schmactenberger: take time to extract lessons from things that didn’t go well, and to build those lessons into the year to come.

all reviews benefit from customization and iteration, but none more so than the annual review. you’ll benefit from making the reflective period your own
that said, it’s less important what you do and more important that you do take time to reflect and plan at a high level. getting intentional about structure adds disfluency.

reviews end best with sharing. share your victories, share your lessons from what didn’t go well, share your plans and questions about the future. you can use public blog posts, private emails, or intimate, reflective conversations with close friends and allies.
include time to review photos from the year. send an album of best photos to friends and family at the end.
i also recommend emailing your closest allies as a cue for shared reflections on your recent wins and next steps.
