I can't get over how people have just ignored this impeachment report. Trump has been impeached because he "undermined" the ability of the United States to engage in democracy promotion abroad? This thing could have been written by Paul Wolfowitz 
How can the democratically-elected president be said to have gone "against US policy"? I always thought the president's job was to craft policy. And if you don't like how he conducts policy, you can vote him out. The long-term implications of this logic have been totally ignored
We're told that Trump "disregarded US foreign policy towards Ukraine" and "chose not to follow talking points" despite being "briefed on official policy." This impeachment is the ratification of the idea that security state bureaucrats are the keepers of "official policy." Insane
Think about the precedent we now have. Only three impeachments ever in US history. This is the first one centered on foreign policy. The crazy logic undergirding these articles is now embedded in the fabric of American governance, whether you like it or not -- forever.
Yes I object to Trump's behavior on a whole host of grounds, but I also object to ignoring the hugely disturbing long-term implications of what's been done here in a futile effort to exact short-term partisan retribution
