Self-described conservative Republican who voted for Hillary currently asking Tulsi a question in NH. New species of voter spotted in the wild
Guy says he didn’t understand politics in 2016 and now supports some things Trump does. Navy vet. Very much dislikes the Democratic Party. First saw Tulsi on Joe Rogan and may vote for her.
Tulsi also said she’d want transparency on UFOs if elected. So a very Joe Rogany evening
Alright I talked to this guy and he was sincere, not a plant or a trickster as far as I could tell. Doesn’t surprise me really because when you interact with enough voters you come to expect random anomalies that would be totally incomprehensible on Twitter

Predictably, Julian Castro ending his campaign is being blamed on the primary process itself (IA/NH are "too white"). Castro himself has also done this. Which effectively amounts to blaming the voters themselves. Because non-white voters have consistently favored white candidates
It seems like the punditocracy would prefer if the primary electorate split into pure ethnic factionalism. Which has sometimes happened in US history in different contexts. The fact that this *is not* happening in the Dem primary seems like a... positive development?
And even if you want to go full-bore into ethnic factionalism, Castro had every opportunity to court the Latino vote in Nevada, which is one the early primary states. He spent a lot of time there. It apparently didn't work. OK, now what?

What do you think happens if Pete wins Iowa? (Not making any statement with this question, just want to know how you think this would affect the race)
Iowa plays a different role in the primary for Dems than GOP. High concentration of politically-organized Evangelical Christians favors avowedly Evangelical candidates (Cruz, Santorum, Huckabee). Different role in Dem race, so Trump's 2016 loss is not a particularly apt precedent
(And yes I know Santorum was not an Evangelical Protestant, but he pioneered a weird new Evangelical/Catholic fusionism thing)

I can't get over how people have just ignored this impeachment report. Trump has been impeached because he "undermined" the ability of the United States to engage in democracy promotion abroad? This thing could have been written by Paul Wolfowitz
How can the democratically-elected president be said to have gone "against US policy"? I always thought the president's job was to craft policy. And if you don't like how he conducts policy, you can vote him out. The long-term implications of this logic have been totally ignored
We're told that Trump "disregarded US foreign policy towards Ukraine" and "chose not to follow talking points" despite being "briefed on official policy." This impeachment is the ratification of the idea that security state bureaucrats are the keepers of "official policy." Insane
