@caseyfrank1 deserves a lot of credit for that story. I was v involved in another !!! Important story. And Casey came to me and told me to drop everything. 1)
Back then, few journalists were covering prisons. I honestly thought no one would care about Darren (at least not in Fla where they kill inmates! ) but ...2)
3. But I knew the story needed to be told. From that one story I received. Hundreds of stories about the cruel and inhumane treatment of men, women and young people in Fla prisons.
It was @caseyfrank1 who is really the person who drove those stories.
We worked very hard on those stories. The public doesn’t understand how hard we fight and how much it takes a toll on us (newspapers) both financially and (personally) mentally.
