It's become a fashion to say RIP (Rest in Peace) when someone passes away. This is the side effects of the Macaulay education system

Christians bury the dead ones and the soul rests in peace in that grave for eternity until the judgment day arrives
1/7
On the Judgment day, the Lord will decide who goes where- Heaven or Hell.

They believe that on the Judgment day the dead will rise again. Until that time, the soul has to suffer and suffocate inside that coffin

The Hindu belief states that the soul never dies:

न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचि- न्नायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूयः
अजो नित्यः शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो- न हन्यते हन्यमाने शरीरे

“Soul never born nor die, it has never been brought into being nor shall come hereafter;
unborn, eternal, permanent.
When the body is slain, it is not slain”

In Sanatan Dharma the body is just a vehicle, a temporary refuge - while the aatman carries on its journey with reincarnations, until the day its Karmic path and spiritual knowledge leads it to Moksha

An appropriate phrase, for a Hindu who has passed away - "Om Shanti"

REST IN PEACE (RIP) is a fallacy when ur body is buried as per Quantum physics

Therefore:

A half-century ago, nearly everyone who died in the U.S. was buried. Only about 4 percent were cremated, now Western world has also started cremations like Hindus

Cremation practice was their in ancient times, but after Christianity was introduced to west, cremation in Christian countries was stopped because it was seen as a sacrilegious act towards Christians

However, in 1963 Pope Paul VI lifted the ban on cremation @noconversion

In coming time, Christians world will only prefer to be cremated after deaths like Hindus

Indian Christians deliberately kept ignorant on this by churchs

The chart shows percentage of cremation in America
