Putting on my NNT hat for a moment: Imagine the primaries as a series of 15%-strike binary calls+15%-strike vanilla calls on polls. It makes sense that candidates in the 14-16% range are desperate for every vote, since their delta is going to infinity as expiry (Iowa) approaches.
If you're far above this threshold, your delta is ~1 and you don't care, so you campaign "normally". if you're far below it, your delta is ~0 so you're more interested in stirring shit and getting headlines to increase vol. This concludes my lecture, imbeciles, now go deadlift.
