If Hollywood wants to make real money with a movie about journalism, it should make a dark comedy about Michael Avenatti's halcyon time as CNN's top guest, object of fawning adulation from reporters, and sudden front-running presidential candidate.
Of course the title is obvious - "BASTA!" - and you could do anything within the premise. You could have a musical number where Avenatti dances the lambada with swooning reporters. You could do big-budget action scenes with the crap bubbling inside his head.
You'd break up the hilarious comedy and wild fantasy interludes by occasionally dropping completely unedited clips of Avenatti holding forth on news programs, accompanied by captions that say "THIS REALLY HAPPENED".
The possibilities for dark comedy like "I, Tonya" or "Wolf of Wall Street" in Avenatti's rise and fall are endless - imagine what he was saying and doing when the cameras were off! - and the public would actually learn something useful about how modern "journalism" works. /end
