This will get me flamed, but I need to get this off my chest: I feel like I'm going absolutely crazy seeing so many of my fellow liberals - particularly those who consider themselves "woke" - rally around a candidate who adopted minority status to the detriment of minorities. 1/
It's known Elizabeth Warren listed herself on multiple official forms as Native American, that she blamed this on family lore, she later said she had "high cheek bones like the Indians do," and even said "I have lots of pictures" about her NA ancestry (but won't share them). 2/
But did you know Harvard had been the subject of a discrimination lawsuit and defended itself PUBLICLY multiple times over multiple years by showing its diversity in hiring women of color by pointing at Warren as a Native American law professor? And she said nothing?

So...3/
I'm just trying to wrap my head around what everyone would think if this were a different race? If she had listed "African American" on forms and said she did so because her family told her she had AA background? If she said her facial features seemed like she could be black? 4/
If there had been a lawsuit & Harvard publicly defended how diverse it was by saying multiple times: "We have an African American law professor in Elizabeth Warren" & she sat silently whole time? If she took a DNA test & celebrated because she had a tiny fraction of AA blood? 5/
I have written many times about how this is an absolutely deadly issue for the general election that - in my opinion - renders her completely unelectable. Trump & GOP will use it to absolutely destroy her credibility and accomplishments and do so in a way that will be toxic 6/
not ONLY by appealing to the worst instincts of white racism, but of also pointing out to minorities how she sat silently while her employer touted her minority status as a reason not to pursue more diverse hiring...all with the goal of depressing minority turnout.

I've also 7/
been frustrated that we've gone a year without the primary forcing her to contend with this issue: not in order to hurt her campaign but in order to make it BETTER. The primary is when she should have had to do a lot more to come up with a response and deal with it. Just as 8/
Obama was forced to contend with the Jeremiah Wright issue, it was better that he did so publicly and during the primary so the issue was dealt with before the general election.

But with the issue ignored for a year, Warren STILL has zero response for it going into a general 9/
Put ALL of that aside for a moment. Let's go back to the core issue of what she did and said and didn't say for decades as an adult.

I just feel like I'm going crazy. So many campaigns have been ended over the years for controversies that were far less substantive. Yet her 10/
campaign not only continues with a base of support, but a base of support that considers itself particularly progressive, educated and "woke" on issues of race?

I watch person-after-person tweet indignantly at Bernie (with good reason) for accusing Warren of lying (he lied) 11/
but then my mind keeps coming back to the fact that these same people have said absolutely NOTHING about her history with race and adoption of minority status.

I don't really have much of a point other than to say I still see this issue not just as bad for the election, but 12/
as a serious substantive one which does make me have serious problems with Warren and her character and that it flies in the face of everything woke liberalism is meant to stand for, and I feel like I'm living in the upside-down that woke liberalism IS her base of support. 13/
I guess I just want to know if I'm alone in feeling this way because to me it's bananas. If I am, fine, then it's just me. I know I'm going to get attacked regardless for writing this, but I had to get it off my chest before my head exploded. /end
