Witness after witness testified that there was a quid pro quo.
Not only that, they testified that they made contemporaneous notes and filed complaints with White House lawyers in real time—all evidence the Trump administration is trying to block.
They weren't the only ones who objected.
Ukrainian officials themselves voiced their concerns about the corrupt actions Trump demanded of them.
That includes explicitly telling their American counterparts that they were uncomfortable with the situation in which Trump had put them:
Taylor brought those concerns to Sondland, who he knew was helping execute Trump's scheme.
Sondland brushed it aside, effectively siding with Trump that Zelensky should announce the investigations in order to obtain a White House meeting.
Ukraine *actively tried* to get the Trump administration to make their request for an investigation official, to do the whole deal aboveboard.
The administration was the one refusing to do so.
