Two things missing in all this hoopla about google purging certain types of cookies and solutions being discussed at a w3c committee:
1) I keep seeing comments “only one publisher” rep in the committee without noting 20 of the 37 work for Google or Facebook. Publishers will be there when the convo is real. Reminder Google and entire adtech ecosystem walked out on w3c and then discredited it last time around.
I’m a huge fan of w3c. We even suggested it as a forum for the AG to make sure required browser and extension signals work as expected under CCPA. G/FB will want a lot of people to influence that conversation as tracking prevention threatens their core business.
2) can we stop using this bogus Google number suggesting half of revenue will be lost? It’s garbage. Google didn’t even release the study behind it until pressured and I’m told won’t stand behind it. It’s embarrassing to Google’s research team. Don’t spread their propaganda.
