We have been monitoring reports of an #Afghan state owned aircraft crashing in the #Ghazni province. We are going to report it as RUMINT for now. Ariana Afghan Airlines has denied reports that the aircraft has gone down while other news site say otherwise.

RUMINT: Some reports coming out of a foreign aircraft (some say US owned) going down near Afghanistan. This is an UNCONFIRMED photo of the site.
Body of 2 foreigners were extracted from the plane. Some are guessing a Bombardier private jet but it looks oddly Russian. I have seen the tail section before and i am trying to remember what aircraft has it.

Investigating what type of aircraft it could be. Right now it could be one of the following (sorted by highest chance to least)

* CRJ-200LR
* Bombardier E-11A
* TU-134

Keep in mind this is based on the photo.

With about 88% certantiy i can say this aircraft was a Bombardier E-11A. See comparisons below. Things circled in red match

90% chance this is either a Bombardier E-11 or a Bombardier Global 5000.

Case Closed. USAF E-11A BACN has crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan.

As of now i am thinking this is USAF E-11A with the serial number 11-9358. Part of the 430th EECS wing and first flew in March of 2013.

@Natsecjeff Why i think this: there are 4 E-11A in service. 11-9001,9355,9558 and 9506. The only one that seems similar is 11-9558. Although the tail does look like 350, that does not exist and could just be the bottom of the 8 cut off. Also only 9358 and 9001 have the USAF insignia

[Knish]
@Natsecjeff I would like to say that i do not think it was shot down otherwise it would come down in pieces. It is relatively intact. My guess is a cabin fire of some sort or an explosion from the inside out (not rapid depressurization)

Lots and lots of media reporting the Taliban claimed responsibility for downing this jet, that’s incorrect, the statement released by them says they acknowledge the “fall” of the jet, nothing about anything to do with them involved in this incident.
#US Military officials confirm the incident, it was indeed an #USAF E-11A airborne comm. plane, the official say the jet crashed in eastern Afghanistan with “less than 5” on board. Details of who they are are not currently known. There is no evidence to suggest it was shot down.
There are no official details or credible reports of who was on the plane. Simple as that.
#US forces in helicopters have managed to recover the remains of the crew killed in the crash. Additional reports from @Reuters suggest there were 4 bodies on board and 2 of them, citing Ghazni provincial police chief Khalid Wardak, they "were alive and they are missing"
