What would happen if Democrats tried to pocket the GOP position that Trump did nothing wrong?
Like, if a Dem presidential candidate were to say, "The Senate has spoken, Trump's behavior was appropriate, and if I'm elected I'm conditioning aid to Iraq on that country investigating whether Tom Cotton committed war crimes while serving there," how would Republicans respond?
I'm skeptical the reaction would be, "well, presidents have a responsibility to investigate war crimes, I guess this is fine"?
(This website is dumb, so I'll stipulate here that 1) I have no reason to think Cotton committed war crimes, that's the point of the hypothetical and 2) I don't think Democrats should actually do this because what Trump did was bad.)
