We took a gander at #DemDebate/#DemDebate8/#DemocraticDebate traffic for the Feb 7 debate. Volume was lower than the previous debate (peaks at 3.5K tweets/minute vs 5K), possibly due to the debate being on a Friday night. We saw little in the way of automation.

@ZellaQuixote @BernieSanders @PeteButtigieg @JoeBiden @ewarren Retweet network for #DemDebate etc. Traffic is split into a left-wing cluster and a right-wing cluster. The right-wing accounts focused on Biden and Buttigieg, while the left-wing accounts mostly discussed Sanders and Warren (who was behind Biden and Buttigieg in total volume.)

We monitored #DemDebate (also #DemocraticDebate/#DemDebate10) traffic for the 10th Democratic presidential debate, as we've done with previous debates. Traffic peaked just shy of 8000 tweets per minute, higher volume than any debate other then the 9th.

@ZellaQuixote The most frequently discussed candidates were @BernieSanders, @MikeBloomberg, and @ewarren. Like the last debate, the right-wing presence in the network is fairly small, mostly @TrumpWarRoom tweeting about @JoeBiden and @DonaldJTrumpJr tweeting about @MikeBloomberg.
@ZellaQuixote @BernieSanders @MikeBloomberg @ewarren @TrumpWarRoom @JoeBiden @DonaldJTrumpJr Sentiment analysis for tweets mentioning each candidate, before, during, and after the debate. Warren and Sanders entered the debate at the low end of the pack and emerged with the highest sentiment scores. Gabbard and Bloomberg wound up with the lowest.

Who's tweeting about "false flags" these days? Mostly #QAnon accounts, with claims that everything from the Milwaukee mass shooting to coronavirus to somebody getting kicked out of a gym is a #FalseFlag. A smaller cluster of Indian accounts is also present.

@ZellaQuixote We downloaded the last 10 days worth of tweets containing #FalseFlag or "false flag", yielding 17756 tweets from 13632 accounts. 3.1% of these tweets are automated, the lion's share from a single account posting via an app called "AmericaDuped". . .
@ZellaQuixote These tweets came from @AmericaDuped, an automated account that spams links to right-wing conspiracy theory blog onfreedomroad(dot)info accompanied by a variety of hashtags.

@ByLucifersBeard Nobody wants to log in. It doesn't fulfill any needs, it takes time, it's annoying, you have to remember what username, etc you used.

People log in because the website makes them log in and they want to use the website to reach their goals more than they hate logging in.
@ByLucifersBeard Sure, logging in is okay. It's better than not having authenticated at all (well this used to be true, anyhow).

But nobody says, gosh, please don't come up with an authentication method that's easier to use and more secure than a username and password. This is perfect, I love it
@ByLucifersBeard The specific example of "logging in" as a chore vs a user need comes from Jared Spool (more examples in that thread).

People asking "how can we make a better login" will never find the *best* experience.

Same with Medicare.
