@TomSteyer @lily21951 I appreciate you and I'm for Bernie right now, but you're my number two. Currently payroll taxes pay for medicare. There is no cap like social security so no unfair advantage to the rich. Medicare for all just increases this minimal tax and eliminates premiums 1/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 , copays, out of pocket, and uncovered fees. Money goes in, patients get treatment, providers get paid. The current system (your aforementioned union health plans and others) use a non-value added middleman who receives a huge rent in the form of premiums and LOA reductions 2/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 to providers. My out of network Occupational Therapist for my autistic child charges $175/ hour (definitely not unreasonable in Silicon Valley), if she were to be in network for those #BloodSuckingVampires #UHC, she would receive $35 because she is an independent. Large 3/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 providers fare a little better with their LOAs but still much reduced so that #UHC, #Aetna, #Cigna et al can make collusive oligopoly profits. Meanwhile these same "insurers" deny or delay claims, code procedures as uncovered, and bankrupt their customers 4/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 without any accountability. Really what value do they provide to the system? Wouldn't a system where providers get paid and patients get treatment be much more efficient and cost effective. For every low paid call center employee of the insurer, money could go to actual 5/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 medical care. Providers could be paid a fairer rate and the current bureaucracy wouldn't need to grow that much because of economies of scale. Former "insurance" company rank and file could go into something that benefits society, rather than causing pain 6/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 to parents of autistic children who have submitted their claim but somewhere the 'insurance' company decided that the treatment was uncovered. I spend a great deal of time fighting with the 'insurance' company. Think how much more productive I can be at work 7/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 not having to resubmit claims, appeal, deal with stress of not knowing when my reimbursement will hit my account while I'm worrying about paying my mortgage. Now tell me how the insurers add value to the chain? With Medicare For All, the former insurance employees maybe 8/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 could get higher paying jobs as medical assistants or nurses, or even installing solar panels in a green economy. Wouldn't any of these be better than enabling the plausible deniability of denying claims to those who need medical care so that they can funnel millions into 9/
@TomSteyer @lily21951 the pockets of people like #UHC CEO David Wichmann? Again I believe you have a kind heart and are doing the right thing but when it comes to #M4A you are dead wrong. 10/10 bizjournals.com/twincities/new…
