@CDCDirector In perspective: best available data suggest this virus is ~2x as transmissible as flu and ~10-20x as deadly. Community transmission could be extremely dangerous.

@CDCDirector @CGDev Over the past few days there has been a distinct shift in USG messaging on COVID19 - no longer "risk to the US is low." Much more frankness on what could be coming - very constructive. Kudos.
What I still do wish they’d say more explicitly is that this is the bat-signal (pun definitely intended) to frontline health systems to begin gearing up for a coming surge. And that Congress should urgently pony up money to facilitate that.
