He also is spreading money around and hiring a ton of black consultants and organizers that these other campaigns overlooked or just refused to hire. Especially black male campaign staff. This is going to important down the stretch
Bloomberg appeals to that same 14% of black men that voted for Trump in 2016. I've talked to these guys, they think both parties are full of racist old white men. But Trump sold them on a dream of jobs and money. Bloomberg does the same, but he's actually putting people to work
Trump hands out get out of jail free cards, scholarships and envelopes filled with money to black voters. Bloomberg is hiring guys off of Craigslist for $6,500 a month so they can take care of their families and pay off debt. You cannot underestimate how much that matters
You'd be amazed at how much a job, or even the idea of a well paying job matters to people outside of the bubble of political engagement. It will make people put up with alot of other terrible things, especially if you're black and think both sides are corrupt
In the end, Bloomberg is terrible for many reasons, but his campaign, investing in black staff on the ground, media, and influencers, is actually a very good model for other Democrats to follow, and you don't have to be a billionaire to do it
