The uncomfortable truth about fake news | Financial Times

We are all susceptible, regardless of education. Better at calling out the fake news from our apparent opponents.

Rather less good when it seems to come from within our own ranks.

I have to ask. When a newsite such as Breitbart is on Facebook’s “approved” list what hope is there?

How was this “approval” given and how can it be taken away?
1/ We need to fact check from reputable, careful sources much more often and fact checking sites need more support to do the job without bias.

2/ We need to understand more about how fake news spreads & is shared. Including by bots, human trolls and political actors.
3/. Then there is the problem of our bubble.
