Bear with me for an #olpldr thread

Yesterday, I saw something on the #olpldr stream that really solidified for me the problem with a lot of the negativity we’ve seen and heard of late
I don’t want to amplify the message by referencing it, but someone indirectly attacked one of the candidates for something that is beyond their control, their gender #olpldr #onpoli
Over the last month, I’ve seen similar attacks on candidates on the basis of the colour of their skin, or their age, again, these are aspects no individual can control about who they are #olpldr
Now, I think it’s fair to be critical of people in politics, based on their track record or lack thereof, their character, their policies or ideas, but these identity attacks should not be part of the conversation in #olpldr or #onpoli
There is no “them” in this #olpldr race, there is only us, if we can come together as a team after March 7th, that is the path to winning the #onpoli election in 2022
This kind of politics is not how we move forward in Ontario, we cannot add through subtraction, we don’t multiply by division. This is the politics of another era, that has resurfaced in the US and other countries #olpldr #onpoli
Our opponents in 2022 have used the politics of division to cast Ontario in to chaos. Teachers vs parents, rural vs urban, English vs French. That should not be our path to winning in 2023 #olpldr #onpoli
I was happy to see most of our #olpldr candidates agree with what @StevenDelDuca said so well last week on @TheAgenda , it’s not about him, it’s about the team

#onpoli
The team that we have started to build is quite impressive already, with 6 capable and strong candidates running for leader. But beyond that, the teams behind these great people #olpldr #onpoli
The @StevenDelDuca team is one of the greatest I have seen. Led by the amazing @najvaamin , Milton, Tom and others who manage the day to day operations. Beyond that, in every region, in every riding, there are leaders who’ve come together for a purpose #olpldr #onpoli
The leaders across Ontario in every community know that 2022 will be the fight of our lives. Theses leaders are women and men, straight and LGBTQ, young and old, from every race, colour and religion. They know it will take all of us to end the chaos in Ontario #olpldr #onpoli
I’m proud of the team of leaders that @StevenDelDuca has brought together, and those that all the leadership campaigns have inspired. All their strength, skill, experience and diversity will be needed for the fight of our lives in 2022 #olpldr #onpoli
